How do I clean solar films?

Soap and water is fine to use with a soft cloth or squeegee. A solution of 1 tsp. of dish soap to 1-qt water is also fine to use. Do not use straight ammonia or any kind of abrasive on the window film.

What side of the glass are films applied?

Inside. Most films have a scratch resistant coating which needs to be inside with the UV inhibitors in front of it.

Does the warranty cover the film if it is scratched?

Covers the film against peeling, cracking, crazing, or demetalizing under normal use for the period specified in the warranty; Lifetime Residential.  10 years Commercial.

Do I need to clean the windows before the installation of the film?

No. Even if you had just finished cleaning the windows we would clean the windows as our standard procedure. Our cleaning procedure involves cleaning any excess putty or silicone from around the frame and going over the entire window with a razor blade to insure all the paint or fly specs are removed before applying the film.

How long is the warranty?

Most Madico films have a lifetime warranty on residential applications and 10 years on commercial applications. Most of the films we use have a DRY ADHESIVE system. The dry adhesive is actually a thinner layer of adhesive than the PRESSURE SENSITIVE adhesive and it will not bubble or melt over time. Dry adhesives last much longer than pressure sensitive and keep a clear distortion-free view over time.

What does the warranty cover?

Covers the film against peeling, cracking, crazing, or demetalizing under normal use for the period specified in the warranty; Lifetime Residential.  10 years Commercial.

Can solar film help to insulate windows?

The films we use can only supply a small amount of insulation to the window 10-15% and are more efficient for summer heat reduction.

Will the film completely stop any fading of my furnishings?

All films have an ultraviolet inhibitor that blocks 99-100% of the UV light.  Removing the UV greatly reduces fading but the infrared or heat can still cause some fading so the greater the heat reduction of the film the more fade control you will have a recommends using a slight tint rather than a clear film for fade control so that you will have some heat blocking characteristics and better fade control.

How much heat can film reduce coming through the windows?

The most efficient heat reduction is achieved with highly reflective films and can reduce the heat coming through the window by as much as 78%.
